Year 2 Violin Fun Day

Course 13: Thursday 18 July                                 

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
As the end of their first year of learning approaches we invite all violinists in year 2 to get together for a day of violin-playing fun to celebrate their progress so far. The children will play some of their favourite tunes (as well as learning some new ones) as part of a massed violin ensemble and will take part in musical games and much more! There will be an informal performance at 3.30pm.

Violin Workshop

Course 14: Thursday 18 – Friday 19 July             

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts

This workshop has been designed for violinists in year 3. Children will play a mix of new and familiar pieces in preparation for an informal concert at the end of the course and have fun taking part in musical games and creative activities that will help to improve their instrumental technique and general musical development. There will be an informal performance at 3.30pm on the last day of the course.

Violin & Cello Group

Course 15: Wednesday 10 – Friday 12 July         

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
A fun and friendly introduction to playing in a mixed string group for players in year 3 - 4 who are in their second year of learning (or up to grade 2 standard). This workshop will give many young musicians a great opportunity to experience playing as part of a larger ensemble for the first time, preparing music in a range of popular styles for the informal end of course concert. The players will also take part in a performance at ACCA at 5.30pm on 12 July (audience members will need to purchase tickets from ACCA box office for this performance).

Summer Strings

Course 16: Monday 15 – Wednesday 17 July

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
Designed for string players in years 5 and above, of approximately grade 3-5 standard, this course gives more experienced players an opportunity to work as part of a larger string ensemble. Students will play a wide range of new music and have the opportunity to work with specialist sectional tutors as they prepare for the end of course concert which will take place at ACCA at 7pm on 17 July (audience members will need to purchase tickets from ACCA box office for this performance).

Wind & Brass Group

Course 17: Wednesday 10 – Friday 12 July         

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
This course gives young brass and woodwind players in year 4 and above, of approximately Grade 1-2 standard, an exciting opportunity to join together with other young musicians. Together the band will learn diverse and exciting pieces, including classical, film music, jazz and other popular styles. For some this will be the first opportunity to experience playing as part of a larger ensemble with other instruments from the brass and woodwind families as the group prepare for the end of course concert at ACCA at 5.30pm on 12 July (audience members will need to purchase tickets from ACCA box office for this performance).

Summer Wind Band

Course 18: Monday 15 – Wednesday 17 July      

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
Designed for brass, woodwind, drum kit and percussion players in year six and above, of approximately Grade 3-5 standard, this course gives more experienced players an opportunity to work as part of a larger wind band. Students will play a range of exciting new repertoire ranging from film music to popular classics and will have the opportunity to work with specialist sectional tutors as they prepare for the end of course concert which will take place at ACCA at 7pm on 17 July (audience members will need to purchase tickets from ACCA box office for this performance).
