Under the advice of the Government and Department for Education we are working hard to get the Saturday Strings Groups back up and running as soon as possible.
Until we can see you again in person, here are some Virtual Music Centre Activities to suit current Saturday String Members.
Family Strings
String Ensemble
(grade 1)
10.00–11.00am
Venue: Varndean School
The String Ensemble provides more experienced string players with opportunities to explore a greater diversity of musical styles, more complex part playing and further develop their improvisation and composition skills.
Saturday String Orchestra
(grade 2-3)
11.15–12.15pm
Venue: Varndean School
String players can further develop their sight reading skills and learn to follow a conductor. There are also opportunities within the rehearsal time for sectional work with specialist tutors.
String Group
09.00–10.00am
Venue: Varndean School
The String Group provides the first opportunity for young violinists, cellists and mini bass players to play together as part of a large group. The String Group is ideal for students who are in the first year of learning. You can join in even if you are a beginner or have only had a few lessons.
