Under the advice of the Government and Department for Education we are working hard to get the Saturday Brass/Wind Groups back up and running as soon as possible.
Until we can see you again in person, here are some Virtual Music Centre Activities to suit current Saturday Brass/Wind Members.
Orchestra Online 1
Brass Ensemble
(grade 2-3)
10.00–11.00am
Venue: Varndean School
This ensemble provides more experienced Brass players with a greater diversity of musical styles, as well as opportunities to explore the wide range of music written for this medium. The sessions will improve sight reading and ensemble skills, and benefit the development of stamina and technical ability.
Saturday Wind Band
(grade 3-5)
11.15–12.15pm
Venue: Varndean School
The Saturday Wind Band is open to woodwind, brass and percussion players. The diverse repertoire includes arrangements of popular, television and film music in addition to contemporary compositions written specifically for concert band.
Wind Group
9.00–10.00am
Venue: Varndean School
This group provides the first opportunity for players of any woodwind and brass instruments to play together as part of a larger group, develop ensemble skills and learn to follow a conductor. Players are welcome to join after approximately one year of learning and should be able to play to the note ranges indicated for grade 1 standard scales.
