Keyboard Fun Day

Course 6: Wednesday 10 July                               

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
As the end of their first year of learning approaches we invite all Year 2 and Year 3 keyboard players from Brighton & Hove’s infant/primary schools to get together for a day of keyboard-playing fun to celebrate their progress so far. The children will play some of their favourite tunes (as well as learning some new ones) as part of a massed keyboard ensemble and will take part in musical games and much more! There will be an informal performance at 3.30pm. Pupils are asked to bring their own keyboard but please contact us if you need to borrow an instrument.

Keyboard Workshop (primary)

Course 7: Thursday 11 – Friday 12 July                           

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
This course is designed for keyboard players in years 4-6 and is ideal for young musicians who enjoy getting together to play a range of music including many well-known pop songs. Students will develop reading, technical and improvising skills as well as experiencing part-playing as part of a larger keyboard ensemble. There will be an informal performance at 3.30pm on the last day of the course. Pupils are asked to bring their own keyboard but please contact us if you need to borrow an instrument.

Primary Guitar Workshop

Course 8: Thursday 18 – Friday 19 July               

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
This course is for guitarists in years 4-6 and is ideal for young musicians who enjoy getting together to play music in different styles, including pop, rock and blues. This course offers electric, acoustic and bass guitarists a chance to join together and develop their musical and technical skills as they prepare for an informal performance at 3.30pm on the last day of the course.

Secondary Guitar Workshop

Course 9: Thursday 18 – Friday 19 July                           

Venue: Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
This course is for guitarists in year 7 and above who have been playing guitar for between 1 and 3 years. Young musicians will explore a range of musical styles, developing techniques used in a variety of musical genres. This course offers electric, acoustic and bass guitarists a chance to work together and develop their musical and technical skills. Students from this course will give an informal performance at 3.30pm on the last day of the course.

Primary Drum Kit Workshop

Course 10: Saturday 6 July                                                

Venue: Brighton & Hove Music & Arts
This one-day course is designed for drummers in years 4-6. Young musicians will come together in our fully equipped drum kit studio (with both electric and acoustic kits) to experience playing in a range of contemporary styles. During the course students will develop technical and musical skills by learning new grooves, performing to backing tracks and improvising solos. There will be an informal performance at 3.30pm.

Course 11: Saturday 13 July                                              
Venue: Brighton & Hove Music & Arts

This one-day course is designed for drummers in years 7-9 who are approximately Grade 1-3 standard. Young musicians will come together in our fully equipped drum kit studio (with both electric and acoustic kits) to experience playing in a range of contemporary styles. During the course students will develop technical and musical skills by learning new grooves, performing to backing tracks and improvising solos. Both courses include an informal performance at 3.30pm.
