The Parents & Friends Association

Who Are We?

The “Friends” are a group of parents, past students, teachers and supporters of Brighton & Hove Music & Arts who are interested in supporting young people's music making activities across the city.

What Do We Do?

  • Run the Coffee Shop at Music Centre on a Saturday morning

  • Provide volunteer assistance and refreshments at concerts

  • Support some of the larger ensembles behind-the-scenes and at concerts and rehearsals

  • Offer liaison between parents, students and Music & Arts

  • Represent the parents and students at the Music Trust meetings

  • Raise funds to buy new instruments for Music Centre activities: We have recently bought a Clavinova; guitar and bass amps, a piccolo, new skins and covers for a timpani, a new podium (to replace the one left at a tip in Holland following it’s disintegration on tour with BHYP!), and regularly donate to the instrument repair budget for the upkeep of purchases

We were pleased to be involved in fundraising for the Soundmakers project.

How Can You Help?

  • We would welcome new members to attend our termly meetings - dates advertised on this page

  • The Saturday coffee shop always welcomes volunteers

  • We also appreciate help with refreshments on concert days
