Our Music Centres offer something for everyone, whatever ability, age, instrument or musical interest!
Playing in a music group, band, ensemble or orchestra should be an enjoyable and positive experience that helps learners to make good musical progress. We are committed to supporting all young musicians to gain places in the groups that are most appropriate to their current age and stage of learning. If you would like some guidance about which music group(s) to apply for, please speak to your child’s teacher or contact MAEvents so we can discuss your needs and recommend the best group for your child.
The below information gives the recommended standard for each ensemble. However if a group has a vacancy for a specific instrument, young musicians may present a piece of a lower standard by prior agreement with BHMA. Most often this would be for young musicians who play bassoon, oboe, trombone, tuba, viola, cello or double bass. Please contact MAEvents if you would like to discuss applying for music group, but have not yet reached the required standard.
