2021-22 Season
Youth Orchestra Audition

Our Music Centres offer something for everyone, whatever your experience, age, instrument or musical interest!

Our main audition period takes place during the summer term in preparation for new members to join us at the beginning of the following academic year. From time to time during the academic year we accept new applications for our Youth Orchestra and Jazz-Big Band.  Please complete a registration here.

Playing in a music group, band, ensemble or orchestra should be an enjoyable and positive experience that helps learners to make good musical progress. We are committed to supporting all young musicians to gain places in the groups that are most appropriate to their current age and stage of learning. If you would like some guidance about which music group(s) to apply for, please speak to your child’s teacher or contact maevents@brightondome.org or 01273 261565 so we can discuss your needs and recommend the best group for your child.

Required Standard

The below information gives the recommended standard for our advanced ensembles. However if a group has a vacancy for a specific instrument, young musicians may present a piece of a lower standard by prior agreement with BHMA. Please contact maevents@brightondome.org if you would like to discuss applying for music group, but have not yet reached the required standard.

Requirements for each group:
