Music Summer School 2019

Following the success of our new partnership established last year, we are thrilled to be returning to the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts for our Music Summer School and to bring audiences 18 performances across a fortnight – a true celebration of youth music making in a fantastic, state-of-the-art performance venue.

We believe passionately in the many benefits of taking part in music and aim to support all children and young people to achieve their musical potential through our programme of high quality, creative Summer School courses. Whatever you’re into we have a course for you, with courses focused on music technology, singing, rock & pop and classical music.

By working with our team of highly-trained and friendly music leaders in the informal setting provided by our Music Summer School, children and young people have the chance to develop new skills and share their musical progress, with every course culminating in a celebration performance.

Please explore the Summer School 2019 website for further details about each course.

Who is Summer School for?

Courses are available for a range of instruments/voices, with opportunities for children and young people from year 2 to year 11. We have a number of courses in (singing, GarageBand and ukulele) that require no previous experience – just sign up and come along! There are also great opportunities for children who have been learning an instrument for 1 year or more alongside bands and ensembles for more experienced musicians.

What does it cost?

Course fees begin at £30 for 1-day courses. Every course includes a performance and for the majority of performances there is no additional charge for tickets. Please note that courses 15, 16, 17 and 18 will include evening performances in the main auditorium, for which tickets need to be purchased from Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts.

Bursaries are available for children and young people from families on low incomes who are under the age of 18 and who attend Brighton & Hove local authority schools or academies. Eligible pupils may apply for a bursary by contacting Brighton & Hove Music & Arts. For more information please visit the Course Fees page.
